In addition, ESSENCE will honor iconic singer Aretha Franklin with "The Power Award." The Queen of Soul previously performed at the Festival in 1995 and 2005.

In addition to the colossal music line-up, the audience can look forward to the annual ESSENCE Empowerment Experience, which is free and open to the public at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. Festival-goers will experience three full days of socio-political dialogue, health and wellness discussions and spiritual inspiration led by dynamic motivational speakers. The initial roster of leading authors, speakers and leaders include: Steve Harvey, Rev. Al Sharpton, Rep. Maxine Waters and Dr. Steve Perry

The weekend will culminate on Sunday with a rousing All-star Gospel tribute honoring gospel mega-stars Fred Hammond and Mary Mary.

SWV Makes A Comeback With Single "Co-Sign"!


It's been along time coming but Sister's With Voices (SWV) are making a return back to music game. They trio have been on a hiatus while lead singer Cheryl “Coko” Clemons found God began to pursue her gospel career. The group however recently re-did Chris Brown's “She Ain’t You”, CLICK TO LISTEN! 


But they are back at it again with their single new "Co-sign" and set to release their new album sometime next year.

Salt-N-Pepa "Legends of Hip Hop" Tour is Official


Salt-N-Pepa officially announced "Legends of Hip Hop" tour to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their 1986 album release of Hot, Cool, and Vicious which featured hit such as "Push It" and "I'll take your Man"
The tour is scheduled to kick off Feb 4th and the line up is bananas. The show is full of Hip Hop icons, such as MC Lyte, Slick Rick, Doug E. Fresh, Kool Moe Dee,  and Naughty By Nature, to name a few!! ..... This is going to be a huge event!!

Lauryn Hill is Bacckk!!!


So it looks like Lauryn Hill has confirmed the rumors ... she is INDEED going on a 17 city tour!! After being gone for the last 10+ years to spend time being a devoted mother and wife..she now finds it suitable to bless us with her presence once again. And I am highly pleased ...I hope she gives the game back what its been missing ...
